Quilt & Fibre Art Festival

Waterloo Region & Beyond

Tuesday May 23 to Saturday May 27, 2017

Each year in late May, communities come together to host a dazzling variety of events in celebration of Waterloo Region’s quilting and fibre arts heritage and culture. While you are here, enjoy the shopping, attractions and dining for which this area is renowned. Plan to stay for more than a day and see all that the Festival has to offer! Read our Quilt Shows blog

Header Image Credit: The quilt “Slices of Market Life” was created by Margaret Notar, in collaboration with a group of local quilters: Marsha Clarke, Natalie Dudycha, Marilyn Farquhar, Nancy McCracken, Elizabeth Schneider and Audrey Vrooman. Thanks to Marilyn Wideman of Mercedes Corp. for her photo that inspired the onion quilt slice and Neil de Boer of Village Photography for the "ghost" shadowed photo of the downed hydro lines. This quilt can be viewed during the Quilt & Fibre Art Festival as part of the  exhibit  "Contemporary Canadian Art Quilts: From Fine Craft To Fine Art "  curated by Joan Hug-Valeriote.

St. Jacobs:

CONTEMPORARY FIBRE ART

Guest Artist: Diane Stewart “Fabric Compositions”
Diane Stewart works with tiny pieces of fabric, instead of brush strokes, to build layered mosaics that are amazing in detail and complexity. While these one-of-a-kind pieces are remarkable up close, revealing the pattern, colour, and texture of the fabric, they are also quite breathtaking from a distance, looking like they are oil paintings.
